SPRING 2024 | GEAR CLASS FINAL

COMMUTER

The Commuter Bag was designed and developed as a part of a final assignment for the Gear Construction Class at Utah State University.

This bag was designed for the urban commuter. Whether that be by bike, train, foot, or car. The commuter bag was created to meet the needs of the user who prioritize
functionality, durability, and sustainability in their daily commuting accessories.

MEETING CTQ'S

I selected mustard and taupe colored fabric for the commuter bag to evoke timeless elegance with a modern twist, ensure versatility and compatibility with diverse urban wardrobes, offer practicality and stain resistance, provide urban camouflage, appeal across genders, and maintain seasonal adaptability.

PROCESS

I started with creating a paper mockup to understand if what I had in mind would even work. After moving to a gauze nonwoven, finding out that the way I constructed the strap, it needs to be flipped in order to be comfortable. resulting in turning the bag front side inwards making the bag and strap lay comfortably without any gapping.
